As a high school technology teacher for the past 13 years, I am privy to many discipline issues. You may be surprised by the types of things a teacher deals with in the trenches. And remember, if I deal with them, your kids do too.

Today my students couldn’t stop talking aboout Mexico’s proposed drug law that makes all drugs including peyote, heroin, cocaine, etc legal if it is for personal use. I spent a lot of time trying to keep them on task. The excitement was palpable. They wanted to know when it would take effect, why would they do that, what will be the effect, etc…. They could not believe that Mexico would even consider such a thing. I wish they would expend this type of energy on something that benefits them in the long run…
“Mrs. Goetz, do you know how many people will die from this? There isn’t any limit, so people will go crazy!”
Update: Vicente Fox decided against signing the law. But will it only be a matter of time before young people have a new, legal venue for drugs.

I am the author of this blog, a high school technology teacher and business woman who spends six hours a day with your children. I teach them how to think, to use technology, to determine what is quality and what is not, and prepare them for this technological world.
Your children: the good kids, the overachievers, the goths, the emos, and the druggies; continue to educate me in the ways of their world. I want to pass this education on to you in the hopes that it will improve your parenting, open your eyes to what your children deal with daily, and give you hope about your child.
Please feel free to contact me with questions.
